History Smeva B.V.

Smeva B.V. was founded in 1920 by Mr. M. Smets. Originally, the company was a joinery works. Later, Smeva decided to shift the bulk of its focus to the production and supply of refrigerated buffets, cabinets, walk-in coolers and cold-storage counters to refrigeration installers. In the nineteen-sixties, the company launched its own sales organisation, an installation group and a service department. Increasing emphasis was placed on direct contacts with the end user. In 1975, an office was opened in Belgium.In order to increase the organisation’s speed and efficiency, changes were made to its structure in 1993, making it market-oriented and transparent. Independent divisions were created, each with its own identity.

In 1997, Smeva took over KOVU, a company based in Hengelo.
